FEATURED

Arctic Wolf, the cybersecurity operations provider which works with over 4,600 customers worldwide, has released its latest report that identifies the top five cyber trends we can expect in 2024.

Arctic Wolf highlights trends

The trends are based on insights gathered from Arctic Wolf’s platform, as well as wider market analysis, and include:

  • Election-focused cyber activity will continue to grow – With elections planned in the US, Russia, UK, and a European parliamentary election in Germany there are lots of opportunities for state-sponsored and espionage threat groups to influence campaigns and results.
  • Ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) will likely see continued specialisation – These models monetise intrusions, and make cybercrime easier for standard criminals. So we can expect the groups to expand.
  • Organisations will have to face continued state-sponsored actors and defend their intellectual property – With the rising threat from Chinese espionage public and private sector organisations will need to keep up to date with the latest threats and tactics being used if they want to remain secure.
  • Microsoft Active Directory security will remain a focus – Securing this environment is no small feat, but unauthorised access can allow for privilege escalation. Meaning this will take up a lot of IT teams time over the next year.
  • AI-generated code will introduce new security vulnerabilities – As organizations continue to adopt and rapidly deploy AI into their software development processes, developer productivity will increase, but so will security risks. We will likely see an increase in security vulnerabilities linked to AI-generated code.
