Secure tool storage manufacturer Armorgard has renewed its membership of the official police security initiative, Secured by Design (SBD).

After vigorous testing by an outside third party, Armorgard secured the SBD Police Preferred Specification (PPS) for the equipment product Tuffbank.

According to SBD, TuffBank sets the industry benchmark for quality, now also benefitting from a host of new and improved features alongside optional extras, including the innovative ‘SlamStop’ mechanism for enhanced safety.

With its hardened steel plates and anti-jemmy features, it is virtually impossible to break into.

SBD observed: “Armorgard’s strict quality control procedures, ergonomic design features, attention to detail and indestructible products are real game changers for secure tool solutions.”

For three decades, SBD has been running PPS product accreditation scheme – a recognised standard for all security related products that can both deter and reduce crime.

Director at Armorgard, Bruce Mitchell added: “We have our products tested and certified by SBD to give our customers reassurance that they are purchasing the best in the market.

“They’re not just taking our word for it; they have proof from an independent testing body.

“Armorgard are the only manufacturer of site tool safes and chests with this accreditation, which is what makes us the first choice in the construction industry.”

SBD work with a range of manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and up to date with emerging criminal trends.

SBD is owned by the UK Police Service, working to improve the security of buildings and their immediate surroundings, with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely.

It is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.

With over one million homes built to SBD standards, witnessing reductions in crime of up to 87%, SBD plays a hugely significant role in the process of designing out crime by good design.

As a result, sustainable reductions in crime have been witnessed each and every year, claims SBD.

Armorgard designs and manufactures secure tool storage and logistical products, manual handling and site safety and are the UK’s brand choice for secure storage solutions and logistical products.

Armorgard have been designing and manufacturing top-quality products for over 30 years, with the aim of making workplaces safer and more secure.

Having partnered with a global sustainability team, they are making huge strides towards carbon net zero.

Armorgard works with a range of distributors that share their ambition for success, alongside their passion for quality and their dedication to impeccable customer service, ensuring that their success is built upon a solid foundation, with shared culture and values.

Lyn Poole, Development Officer at Secured by Design said: “With trades personnel needing secure storage both in vehicles and onsite, Armorgard’s TuffBank products help prevent people from becoming victims of crime and having their tools stolen.

“It is not just an expense for them, but usually requires days out of work whilst trying to source new tools and equipment, and in some cases, even having to keep vans and trucks off the road due to damage.

“It’s an ever-increasing crime especially now that building sites are back to full strength after lockdown and trades people are in high demand as members of the public are once again calling on their services.

“Armorgard do not just produce great products that do what they say they do; they are a company with experienced and friendly staff. I value the brand tremendously and am very glad they have decided to renew their membership with Secured by Design”.

SBD was established over 30 years ago and works with many partner organisations ranging from the Home Office, Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, right through to local authorities, housing associations, architects, developers and manufacturers.

It also maintains close links with standards authorities and certification bodies to ensure it remains up to date with emerging criminal trends by working with builders, developers, local authorities and registered housing associations.
