Asgard Secure Steel Storage, manufacturers of secure metal storage units, has renewed its membership with Secured by Design, the official police security initiative.
With nearly 50 years’ experience, West Yorkshire-based Asgard is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of high-quality secure metal sheds, metal bike storage units, motorcycle garages, school storage and caravan storage, designed to give the strength and security required for professional level use.
From smaller residential storage solutions to large industrial units, the Asgard range of outdoor metal garden sheds are Police Approved, Locksmith Approved, and Insurance Approved.
Asgard products are designed and manufactured in Britain at the company’s Bradford factory, where each storage unit is made from heavy, galvanised (weatherproof) steel, featuring integral metal floors, vented roofs and high-quality locking systems.
Alfie Hosker, Secured by Design, commented: “I am delighted that Asgard have renewed with us once again.
“Their Police Preferred Specification product range are often chosen by leading sports personnel who compete at both a National and International level. I look forward to another successful membership period with us.”

Secured by Design (SBD) is the official police security initiative that is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim to reduce crime and help people live more safely.
SBD seek to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems, along with fencing systems, that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.
In addition, SBD work closely with builders, developers, local authorities and registered housing associations to incorporate the police crime prevention standards into developments from initial concept and design, through to construction and completion.
Police forces throughout the UK have specially trained Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs) who offer police designing out crime and SBD advice free of charge. Over one million homes have been built to SBD standards with reductions in crime of up to 87%.
SBD has many partner organisations, ranging from the Home Office, Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.
SBD developed a product based accreditation scheme over 20 years ago – the Police Preferred Specification, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
There are currently many hundreds of companies producing thousands of attack resistant crime prevention products, across over 30 different crime categories, which have achieved Police Preferred Specification.
SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.
Earlier this week we reported how two Olympians took delivery of their new Secured by Design (SBD) accredited Centurion Bike shed from Asgard.
SBD member company, Asgard Secure Steel Storage, continues its help and support of athletes by installing an SBD-accredited bike shed for British and Australian triathletes, Non Stanford and Aaron Royle.
The brief is a familiar one for Asgard – Non and Aaron needed a large secure outdoor storage shed to house their sports equipment and other household items, clearing up space in the garage to transform it into a training den.
After checking out the space and storage requirements, the SBD accredited Centurion storage range seemed to fit the bill.
Offering high-security storage, the shed features a fully galvanised (weatherproof) construction, built from the inside-out, with steel deadbolts (5-point locking system), a secure snap-off security handle, and a full heavy-duty metal floor.
With any metal shed, the risk of condensation is always a possibility, However, Asgard’s superb internal ventilation system reduces the risk, by maintaining an internal airflow even when fully locked, keeping internal moisture to a minimum.
