Atos unveils Security Investment Validation service

Atos has announced the addition of Security Investment Validation and Optimisation (SIVO) to its Security Advisory Portfolio in the UK&I.

SIVO is said to help organisations audit the coverage of their cybersecurity tools to ensure that they are deployed efficiently and cost-effectively, while providing the necessary cyber protection.

Multi-vendor approach to security

Atos has reported that many businesses have a complex, multi-vendor approach to security, with CISOs managing multiple tools, each with slightly differing scope.

This is said to result in a lack of visibility over their overall security posture, which makes it difficult to identify and respond to threats, manage budgets and understand any gaps.

CISOs face a multi-layered consequence: They may by investing in multiple tools with overlapping functionality, while leaving some areas of their business exposed.

Tackling increasing costs

Terry Bebbington, Head of Cyber, Atos UK&I said: “One of the key challenges facing a modern CISO is that they don’t have an easy way of navigating the operational and financial challenges posed by a layered, multi-vendor approach to security.

“They are simultaneously time-poor, tackling increasing costs that they need to justify and under pressure to adopt new technologies to battle new threats.”

Atos’ Security Investment and Validation Optimisation

To tackle this, Atos’ Security Investment and Validation Optimisation service is said to provide security leaders with a rationalised threat-led view of security tooling across their organisation.

This reportedly gives them assurance that their security tooling is deployed in an efficient and cost-effective manner, highlighting any gaps in threat coverage, as well as potential cost-saving and consolidation opportunities.

“Enabling CISOs”

Bebbington continued: “SIVO helps to remove technical security debt, unlocking additional budget and enabling CISOs to justify new spending, without risking their defences.”

Atos’ Security Investment and Validation Optimisation service reportedly involves an 8-10-week consultation, during which time Atos will:

  • Evaluate product, commercial and threat data to review security tooling and confirm coverage against the Mitre ATT@CK Framework
  • Identify security tools with duplicate capabilities that can be retired, providing valuable cost savings
  •  Support the closure of gaps in security architecture with new tools, ensuring the protection of the business and reducing the chance of a successful cyber-attack
