British heritage, local charity support and Paxton's future

Adam Stroud, Ceo of Paxton discusses the companies British heritage, local charity support and the company’s vision for the future.

Can you tell me about your journey in the security industry?

I’ve been with Paxton for more than 25 years and my journey really runs in parallel with the company’s growth.

When I started, we were a small team focused on a handful of access control products.

What’s always kept me inspired is the combination of technology and practicality – using innovation to solve everyday challenges.

The industry has changed dramatically in that time.

We’ve gone from simple electronic systems to advanced, integrated platforms that bring together video, access and mobile control.

Through it all, our focus at Paxton has stayed the same: Developing products that are simple, reliable and make life simple for installers and the people who use them.

From our Net2 system to Paxton10, Entry and PaxLock, everything we do is about turning complex technology into something that is intuitive, reliable and simple to use.

As a British manufacturer, how does that influence your strategy, product development and global growth?

Being a British manufacturer is part of our DNA.

Our roots in Brighton go back four decades and that foundation has shaped how we think and operate.

Having our R&D, manufacturing and support teams working side by side means we can move quickly, keep quality high and stay close to the people who use our products.

That same philosophy guides how we grow internationally.

When we enter new markets, we don’t just export products – we invest.

Our new U.S. headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina, is a good example of that. It gives us a direct presence in a key market, closer relationships with installers and the world-class infrastructure to support them properly.

Britain is home to some of the world’s finest innovations.

We take pride in this and are forward-looking in our approach to designing and delivering security technology.

Each year employees vote for a local charity to support. How did that initiative begin?

It actually started quite naturally – our people wanted to give something back to our local community.

The idea was simple: Each year, employees nominate and vote for a local charity and we dedicate the year to raising funds and awareness for that cause.

It’s become part of our culture. It brings people together, gives everyone a sense of purpose beyond their daily work and helps us make a real difference to a charity that often can often rely on extra support from corporate fundraising. It’s something we’re genuinely proud of.

What is Paxton’s long-term vision for the company?

Our long-term vision is to keep leading through innovation while staying true to our founding principles – simplicity, reliability and practicality.

We’re continuing to invest in new technologies, especially in cloud-based systems and leveraging mobile technology, to make access control and building security even smarter and more connected.

At the same time, we’re thinking about the next generation – from developing talented people within the business, our partnership supporting apprentices through Skills for Security and designing systems that meet the needs tomorrow.

The next chapter for Paxton is about growth with purpose: Developing technology that helps protect, while supporting our customers.
