NHS Scotland has chosen global cybersecurity solutions provider, Check Point Software Technologies, to provide threat prevention and cloud data management for the service.

Providing public healthcare to the people of Scotland, many of NHS Scotland’s services rely on smart technologies to function at maximum efficiency. However, with a reliance on such technology to manage public data comes a need for reliable cybersecurity, data management and threat prevention.

With NHS Scotland’s database continuing to grow in the public cloud, Check Point’s solutions can hyperscale any flood of information – the company has therefore supplied its CloudGuard IaaS system to support the migration of health data and services to the cloud, as well as the Check Point Maestro which can manage data and expand security gateways.

Deryck Mitchelson, Chief Information Security Officer at NHS Scotland, remarked: “Check Point’s CloudGuard has been key in enabling us to add new cloud workloads and services without needing to constantly review or deploy new security infrastructure.

“This means we can focus on the critical public-facing tasks where we can add real value, such as developing and running Scotland’s ‘Test & Protect’ services. Right now we are building our vaccination management systems, and our cloud-first approach gives us the agility and scalability we need to roll it out nationally while being sure that data and services are secured.

“Health data is probably Scotland’s most valuable asset, so it’s essential that it remains absolutely secure wherever it is being stored or accessed. We now have much more visibility than we had before we implemented the Check Point solutions.”
