CHERI Alliance has announced that BT Group has joined its ranks to accelerate the deployment of CHERI technology across cybersecurity industries.
BT is said to bring decades of expertise in network security and innovation to the Alliance, further strengthening the mission to create a safer digital future.
CHERI Alliance is an international consortium reportedly uniting industry leaders, researchers and governments to drive the adoption of Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions (CHERI) technology.
CHERI technology supposedly offers a transformative approach to preventing memory safety vulnerabilities, which are the root cause of most cyber-attacks, by incorporating hardware-enforced protections.
Mike EFTIMAKIS, Founding Director, CHERI Alliance said: “BT’s leadership in secure communications is unparalleled and their involvement in the CHERI Alliance marks a significant step forward for our mission.
“Together, we can ensure that CHERI technology is adopted widely, making systems safer and more resilient for everyone.”
Dave Harcourt, Chief Security Authority and Automation Director at BT Group said: “As a global leader in telecommunications, BT recognises the critical importance of securing the digital infrastructure that underpins our economy and society.
“Joining the CHERI Alliance allows us to work with likeminded organisations to push the boundaries of what’s possible in hardware-enabled cybersecurity.”
