Use of electronic passport scanners for children under 18 have been under trial on under 18s at Heathrow Airport.
Children aged 10 and 11 used the technology at Terminal 5 during the recent half-term week to test their efficiency.
Children over the age of 12 can use the scanners.

It came at a time when Heathrow reported pre-pandemic numbers using the airport once more.
It reported 5.4m customers travelled through it in January, making it the busiest start to a year since 2020.
Most travellers – 1.6m – were from the EU, followed by people from North America at 1.2m.
Meanwhile, the airport will face a challenge when Border Force strike action was announced by the Public and Commercial Services union (PCS).
The one day stoppage takes place on 15 March.
