Consult-Europe:-Connecting-security-professionals

James Thorpe, SJUK’s Managing Editor hears exclusively from Rick Mounfield, Chartered Security Professional and Director of Optimal Risk about the creation of Consult Europe.

What inspired the creation of Consult Europe?

Bruce has been attending the CONSULT symposiums in the USA for five of the past nine years.

He became friends with Ray Coulombe, the Founder and started to recognise how this concept could really benefit the European market.

Ray has been an enormous advocate and whilst Consult-Europe is not a franchise of CONSULT USA, it has been developed with Ray’s mentorship.

We have benefitted from the experience they have gained over the years as it’s allowed us to navigate the potential pitfalls of bringing a new idea to this mature technical security market.

How is the technical security consulting landscape evolving across Europe? How does Consult Europe help professionals navigate changes?

We are in the fifth industrial revolution and the speed of advancement is exponential. It’s now beyond Moore’s Law.

In the coming years we can expect more than a doubling of enhancements because Agentic AI is creating co-decision making between machine learning and the human in the loop.

Consultants in the technical security space need to understand what is available to them as they advise their clients.

They cannot afford to stay static.

Continuing Professional Development is paramount and who could be more well chosen to show the capability of technical security equipment than the people who research and develop those systems.

Consult-Europe will bring 60 Technical security Consultants from Design and engineering to integration and assurance testing and create meaningful conversations with the best manufacturers at the cutting edge of security technology.

Hosted at the Luxurious Celtic Manor Resort, we will host a weekend without interruption by emails or client calls so that everyone can network and build deeper relationships that help everyone succeed in their professional endeavours.

What strategies do you find most effective for building long-term professional relationships in the industry?

My time as Chief Executive at the Security Institute and as a Director with the Association of Security Consultants has cemented my belief that people enjoy connecting with other people.

Its the human element of why we take employment in a field that interests us. It gives deeper purpose and enjoyment.

Providing an opportunity to make friends at Consult Europe is enhancing capability whilst providing a rich network of professional friendships.

Trusted sources of advice and information. Who wouldn’t want that? In addition, we want the weekend to be enjoyed by the delegate’s and their partners.

We have planned a partner program to ensure their better half enjoys the experience as well.

What is your vision for the development and impact of Consult Europe within the European security sector?

Bruce, Mike and I have a combined black book that would rival any in the Security sector.

We are employed in the consultancy sector and so we understand the impact of networks.

On one hand, we want Consult-Europe to showcase the best of British and wider European security technology and on the other, we want to help technical security consultants develop their skills and increase their understanding of what tech is available so that they provide an enhanced service for their clients.
