Exclusive interview: Julia Jacob, Head of Project, Security Essen

September 15, 2022

What can visitors expect from Security Essen 2022?

Visitors can expect a comprehensive market overview of all civil security topics at Security Essen. These include: “Services”; “Access, Mechatronics, Mechanics and Systems”; “Perimeter”; “Video”, “Fire, Intrusion and Systems” and “Digital Networking Security”.

The focus is on personal exchange and the physical experience and comparison of products. This is only possible in this form at a presence fair such as Security Essen. Added to this is a practice-oriented supporting program with the Security Experts Forum, the Digital Networking Security Conference and the Fire Protection Forum.

The presentations there provide valuable impulses for the daily work in the various areas of the civil security industry.

Can you tell us more about the brands who will be exhibiting?

A total of around 400 exhibitors from 36 nations will be exhibiting at Security Essen, ranging from global players to startups.

In the areas of “Services” and “Digital Networking Security”, we are looking forward to Advancis Software & Services, Deutsche Telekom Security and Stölting Security & Service, for example. Among the well-known brands in the halls for “Access, Mechatronics, Mechanics and Systems”, “Perimeter” and “Video” are ABUS, Dahua Technology, dormakaba EAD, Genetec, HIKVISION Deutschland, PCS Systemtechnik, Rohde & Schwarz and SALTO Systems.

In the “Fire, Intrusion and Systems” area, the companies ABI-Sicherheitssysteme, Carrier Fire & Security, Honeywell, NSC Sicherheitstechnik, Telenot Electronic and Wagner Deutschland will also be presenting themselves. In addition, there are the startups mentioned at the beginning, which will present their innovations at Security Essen.

What will be discussed at the DNS conference?

With the Digital Networking Security Conference, we have joined forces with the trade journal “kes” to create a new offering specifically dedicated to data protection and information security in companies, municipalities and public authorities.

This is because IOT devices and the Internet connectivity of products and services that previously functioned purely physically or autonomously are creating new potential targets for cyber-criminals. At the conference in Hall 7, experts will report on current incidents, important interfaces between corporate and IT security, legal requirements and practical implementation examples on the first two days of the trade fair.

The topics will include, for example, the management of cyber crises, the secure use of cloud applications and the training of employees for increased security awareness.

Can you tell us more about BeNeLux Day please?

On BeNeLux Day on September 21, cross-border knowledge exchange is the top priority – because criminals, especially cyber-criminals, do not stop at national borders.

That is why we have joined forces with the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce and the Dutch cluster Security Delta to create the German-Dutch Security Forum. Here, industry experts from Germany and the Netherlands report, among other things, on trends in the security markets in their respective countries as well as networked security technology and cybersecurity in practice.

The overriding goal is to learn from the experiences of both countries and to complement each other’s products and services even better in the future.

Personally, what are you most excited about as the beginning of the show draws closer?

After a break of four years due to the pandemic, I am naturally looking forward to the moment when the doors open on the first day of the fair and Security Essen finally gets underway.

In addition, I have only seen many exhibitors and partners in video conferences during the past two years. Therefore, I am looking forward to numerous personal discussions and contacts. It is a good feeling to finally be able to meet again.

For the civil security industry, there is no better place for this than Security Essen.
