Security specialist GMS Group has been named for the first time as one of the UK’s biggest and best security companies by Infologue.
Following a successful period of continued growth, Oldbury-based GMS has landed on the list of the top 45 businesses in the security sector put together by Infologue, which has ranked the industry leaders every year since 2004.
With its HQ in Oakham Rd, Oldbury, GMS employs 500 staff delivering security solutions across the UK for leading brands including Jaguar Land Rover, Aston Martin, CEMEX UK, Neovia, Kerry Foods and Avison Young.
GMS was placed at number 44 on the 2021 list, the first time it has made the well-read industry title’s Top 45 UK Companies in the Regulated Security Sector. The list, which is ranked based on regulated security revenue, includes companies operating across disciplines including guarding, cash and valuables transit, close protection, door supervision, public space surveillance (CCTV), security guarding and key holding.
With turnover increasing by 12.5% on year to £13m despite the challenging Covid economic environment, GMS has grown from its roots as a local security company for the West Midlands to a national trusted partner working at a range of commercial and facilities management sites across the UK.
The company’s highlights for 2021 include forming a new partnership with leading storage company Citistore Ltd and growing revenues by forming fresh link-ups with market leading facilities management brands. GMS has also continued to offer innovative technology-based security solutions to meet changing market demands.
Offering security services from Glasgow to Portsmouth, Manchester to London, GMS is on course to see continued turnover growth. Commercial Director Lisa Nicholson said seeing GMS debut on the Infologue top 45 list was a pleasing landmark after a successful 2021.
Nicholson said: “Making it into the Infologue top 45 has capped off a successful 12 months for GMS and our staff as we continue to grow a trusted security partner business for leading brands.
“Led by our CEO Neil Male, we drive our business to build on our excellent reputation for consistently high standards of security service delivery. As well as industry recognition such as the Infologue list, we can point to the longevity of our contracts with global brands who trust us year on year to protect their assets, their intellectual property and their people.
“Based on the forecasts for the next 12 months, we hope to achieve further success and hope to see GMS break into the top 40 in next year’s Infologue list.”
