Manchester’s vibrant business district provided the ideal backdrop on 24 June as 264 senior security professionals gathered at the Manchester Deansgate Hotel for Centurian Media’s SJUK Leaders in Security Conference.
The event has, over the past three years, established itself as the UK’s trusted forum for senior security practitioners to connect, exchange ideas and address the most pressing challenges facing the profession.
This year’s conference delivered a compelling mix of expert-led discussion, strategic insight and targeted networking, creating a platform for collaboration among some of the security sector’s most influential leaders and decision-makers.
Representing global brands, historic institutions and strategically significant organisations, attendees included senior security, risk and crisis management professionals from the likes of National Highways, St Paul’s Cathedral, BBC, Mott MacDonald, Fortnum & Mason and more.
Gathering in the heart of one of the UK’s most dynamic commercial centres, speakers explored the challenges, threats and evolving priorities shaping today’s landscape, while sharing perspectives on the risks and responsibilities that continue to define the role of the modern security leader.

The event kicked off with a morning networking reception before opening comments from Ian Stokes, CEO of Centurian Media, and Rick Mounfield, Conference Chair and Director, Optimal Risk.
What followed was a thought-provoking Keynote Address from John Mason, CEO, Placing Platform Limited, the sophisticated electronic trading and placing platform that sits at the heart of the Lloyds of London speciality insurance market.
Mason’s Keynote Address examined the financial sector as a vital component of the UK’s critical national infrastructure, exploring the breadth and growing frequency of threats facing the nation while considering how the UK can best mobilise its resources and capabilities to respond effectively.
Throughout the day, delegates engaged with a carefully curated programme of presentations, panel discussions and fireside conversations focused on the evolving challenges confronting security leaders across both the public and private sectors.
