SALT: ‘Save A Life Today’ – A community initiative  

Understanding the urgent need to address youth violence, Black Onyx Concepts has developed SALT workshop (Save A Life Today), a proactive initiative aimed at reducing knife crime. The programme is built on four key objectives:  

1. Raise Awareness: Educate individuals on the risks and legal consequences of knife crime.  

2. Education: Provide informative workshops covering:  

• The realities and impact of knife crime  

• Recognising and avoiding dangerous situations  

• Legal ramifications, including Knife Crime Prevention Orders (KCPOs)  

3. Situational Awareness: Teach participants to observe and assess their surroundings 

4. Conflict Resolution: Teach effective de-escalation strategies 

5. Empowerment: Encourage youth to engage in positive behaviours and peer support 

To further this initiative, Black Onyx will host a ‘Save A Life Today’ community event at the Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce (SCoC) on 23 April 2025.

The event will focus on knife crime awareness, self-defence training and proper use of public services such as police, fire, and ambulance services.  

With youth knife crime on the rise, particularly among 11–17-year-olds, Black Onyx is dedicated to mitigating risk through education and engagement.   

The UK’s Offensive Weapons Act 2019 allows courts to impose KCPOs on individuals as young as 12. Violations can lead to imprisonment, fines, or both.

However, Black Onyx believes that prevention through awareness and education is the best approach to fostering safer communities.
