Secured by Design (SBD) member Asgard Secure Steel Storage has pledged to support Britain’s elite athletes with safe and secure places to store their bicycles and essential equipment.
Ex-military turned Paralympic Gold Medalist Jon-Allan Butterworth is the latest professional athlete to choose an Asgard, the Secured by Design (SBD) accredited, bike storage shed.
Jon required a high-security shed to safely store his bikes and equipment but did not have a large enough space for one of Asgard’s extra-large cycle stores.
Asgard suggested the solution, a 6ftx3ft Annexe high-security, SBD accredited, bike shed which can hold up to 3 bikes, offering the highest security in the smallest footprint.
As Jon’s shed is temporarily placed outside in his courtyard garden, he required a small shed taking up only minimal space, yet big enough to store all his riding equipment.
The Annexe bike shed is Asgard’s most secure compact bicycle shed measuring just 6x3ft yet, still able to store up to 3 bikes, the perfect solution.
The Annexe features plenty of security features giving it Level 1, Loss Prevention Certification, UK Locksmith approval, and Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification accreditation, giving Jon total peace of mind his bikes are securely stored.

UK SECURITY NEWS – LATEST
The Annexe security features include a 5-point locking mechanism with deadbolts, a pick-and-drill resistant lock rated to EN1303 (the highest level of durability), and a handle that is designed to snap off in an attempted break-in, helping to prevent forced entry.
Like all Asgard sheds, aside from the Twin Bike Locker, the Annexe features an integral metal base that can be bolted to the ground giving 360-degree protection to his bikes.
The SBD accredited Annexe shed also features reinforced doors, tough hinges, and reinforced panels for extra security.
Jon-Allan Butterworth MBE PLY commented: “I’m proper chuffed with my new Asgard bike shed! Pictures do not do this justice, the build quality, value, communication, and installation team are top class!”
Who is Jon-Allan Butterworth MBE?
Jon-Allan Butterworth is an ex-military Senior Aircraftman Weapons Technician, who served in Afghanistan and Iraq for the Royal Air Force.
After an injury, he took part in the first Help for Heroes bike ride in 2008 with ParalympicsGB spotting his talent, which kickstarted his successful career for British Cycling.
Jon became Paralympic Champion with three silver medals and four world titles starring alongside fellow Asgard shed owner, Jody Cundy.
Jon was awarded an MBE in 2017 for his service to cycling and has been awarded a post-nominal title PLY to recognise his hard work, commitment, and promotion of Paralympic values.
Asgard Metal Shed Installation
Located just over the Pennines, the Asgard shed installation team jumped in the van to install the Annexe shed for Jon. As Jon was undergoing some home renovations, he set up a bespoke wooden base for his storage shed, which he plans to relocate later down the line.

Stuart from the Asgard Shed Installation Team, said: “It was such an honour to meet Jon and provide a secure place for his bikes. Whilst the location of the shed wasn’t ideal, it will however keep the bikes secure for the time being. Due to the galvanised steel construction, our metal sheds weigh a lot (the Annexe is over 21 stone) and are designed to last well over 10 years. Wooden structures often degrade over time, which is why we advise installing on a solid floor”.
