The Security Institute makes another important appointment

The Security Institute appoints Sarah Austerberry MLitt, CSyP as Vice Chair.

Following on from the appointment of Frank Cannon BSc (Hons), CSyP, CPP, FSyI as Deputy Chair of the Security Institute from the 24 July 2023, the Security Institute has announced, that from the same date, Sarah Austerberry MLitt, CSyP will be Vice Chair.

Austerberry will be working alongside Chair, Julie Nel MA, MSyI, Frank and the rest of the Board of Directors.

The Security Institute on why Sarah Austerberry is the right fit

Austerberry has 25 years’ experience working in government security in the field of strategic security with private and public bodies in the UK and overseas.

She has an academic and business background in protective security including research, application and strategic consultancy and specialist knowledge focused on transport security, insider risk and personnel security.

Austerberry was HMG’s head of specialism for personnel security as part of the government security profession.

She is an active member within the Security Institute which includes being an Insider Risk SIG contributor, regular presenter and Compere at the SyI Annual Conference (recently a Panellist at the 2022 Conference), attendee of the Fellows (FSyI) lunch series and CPD webinars, and the current Institute link to the Register of Security Engineers and Specialists (RSES) Steering Group.

The Security Institute to implement new strategy

Speaking of her appointment, Austerberry said “I’m delighted to be able to support the Security Institute in the position of Vice Chair. The Board of Directors and Head Office team work extremely hard to ensure that our Institute is “match fit” for now and the future to meet our member’s needs. I look forward to developing and implementing our strategy as part of this fantastic team. We look forward to sharing our vision and strategy with our members.”
