The Security Institute is delighted to announce that 14 outstanding recipients have received The Baroness Ruth Henig Scholarship, dedicated to recognising exceptional talent and potential within the security profession.

Nine of fourteen successful applicants are female and 50% come from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) and non-British backgrounds, reflecting The Security Institute’s dedication to advancing diversity in a traditionally underrepresented industry.

The awards

Two of the scholarship winners received the exciting news during The Security Institute’s Annual Conference, “The Changing Face of Security” that was held on the 16th October.

The recipients had the honour of meeting members of Baroness Henig’s family, whose legacy of leadership and dedication to public service continues to inspire future generations.

What the recipients receive

The scholarship winners will receive access to tailored mentorship opportunities, funding for professional development, and resources to support their growth as leaders in the security sector.

This initiative further reinforces The Security Institute’s mission to promote excellence, leadership, professionalisation and innovation across the profession.

“Diverse pool of talent”

Professor Simon Hepburn, CEO, The Security Institute said: “The Baroness Ruth Henig Scholarship is more than a recognition of academic and professional excellence.

“It represents our ongoing commitment to breaking barriers and supporting a diverse pool of talent in the security profession.

“We are thrilled to see this year’s cohort reflecting the broadening nature of our industry, as well as the passion and dedication needed to make our field stronger.”
