Created in partnership, Traka’s Medical Distribution Lockers has been shortlisted as a finalist for three categories in the prominent Patient Experience Network (PEN) Best Practice Awards.
Traka worked with Unilink, Serco and Practice Plus Group (formerly Care UK) to design and support installation of specialist Medical Distribution Lockers which uses biometric access for prison workers to allow inmates to take more responsibility for their medical requirements in a safe environment.
So successful in their implementation, the Patient Experience Network National Best Practice Conference and Awards Ceremony has recognised the Medical Distribution Lockers in three separate categories: Innovative Use of Technology, Social and Digital Media, Partnership Working to Improve the Experience and Using Insight to Improve Inequality of Care or Access to Services.
Tom Smith, Traka UK Major Accounts Sales Manager, remarked: “The introduction of the Medical Distribution Lockers has been a very sensitive partnership project. Cited as part of a government initiative to adopt more technology in the 21st century prison environment, it represents a shift in focus on prison priorities to encourage rehabilitation over punishment and saves time and resources for healthcare staff.
“We knew they had the potential to make a significant difference and the recognition by PEN in three different categories is testament to this success, especially when it comes to innovative use of technology through modernising medication management in a prison setting. We are also particularly thrilled that the shortlist includes our partnership working to improve the experience, as this really was a joint initiative right from the initial design of the lockers through to trials and implementation.”
The Patient Experience Network National Awards are the first and only awards programme to recognise best practice in patient experience across all facets of health and social care in the UK.
Now in its 11th year, there will be a virtual Best Practice Conference and Awards Ceremony from 13 – 17 September 2021.
